  What woke you up?

  in march of 2014, i was a very active jw, a ministerial servant, gave a public talk, was an attendant for the memorial, and one of 4 cleaning captains for an international convention of 40,000+ attendees.

  so what woke me up?

  an innocent comment from a co-worker about the candice conti court case rang a bell that could not be unrung.

  What Qualifications does Geoffrey Jackson have as a Translator of the Bible ? In any Capacity ?

  geoffrey jackson left school at the age of 15 and began pioneering , he never attended a university ,never studied ancient greek ,hebrew or aramaic at any recognized teaching academy , he has no certificates or credentials / qualifications from any place of learning that is approved by a competent body of religious instruction .. and by his own words at the australian royal commission , under oath he stated that was his primary role as a translator of scripture into other languages .. a 15 year old drop out from school in australia is the chief/ prime translator of the bible for jehovah`s witnesses world wide in their many languages that they preach in .. it would be very interesting to see his report cards for those few years he did attend school .. is it just me , or does anybody else see that his qualifications don`t come up to scratch to be a translator of the old testament or the new testament scriptures , and be taken seriously as a translator of either , into any language.. if i am wrong anywhere in this post feel free to correct me .. smiddy.

  The only resolution that I remember not passing was one to change the Sunday meeting time from 9:30am to 10:00am. Almost everybody was in favor of the 9:30am start. The elder was dumbfounded.

  That was probably 15 years ago. Now that hall starts their Sunday meetings at 10:00am. Go figure.

  i didn't know where to posts this, i hope "friends" is ok-.

  how did you feel when the book you studied in was deemed "discontinued"?

  for instance, when i was studying, i studied the knowledge book.

  The brother reading the resolution didn't even bother to ask if anyone opposed. It wouldn't have mattered anyway since everyone raised their hands in favor.

  So after the road project is completed, the kingdom hall will have limited funds to purchase new shrubs and other landscaping items to replace the items that will be taken as part of the project. Good luck begging HQ for some of that money back. They should have held on to the entire sum at least until the project is completed.

  The local hall recently sold some property to the state for a road improvement project that is sorely needed. They received about $20,000. Guess what? A resolution was read last week that will send $15,000 of it to world headquarters. I couldn’t believe it! Almost everyone in attendance raised their hands in agreement. I just sat there in complete disgust.

  Oh well, it’s not my money.

  i went to the convention this past weekend in cleveland with my wife and son.

  most of the session was the status quo, but here are some of observations that i believe are worth noting: .

  1. i did not see a lot of jw.org advertisements and the website was not mentioned a whole lot during the session.

  so as usually unavoidable, i was seating at the wt meeting this sunday.

  we've got there about 15 min late.

  i don't know the title of the talk but when we got there, brother elder was talking about experiences of families that have simplified their life to support these old men, i mean, to serve the kingdom more.

  I seem to remember accounts reports read at all conventions as well. We would always have massive "deficits". Maybe it was a regional thing?
